On Saturday, 5/10/25, in an effort to improve response times to emergency calls for service, the Malaga Volunteer Fire Company staffed the fire station with a crew of three (five including our two candidate members). The Duty Crew began at 08:00 hours and immediately went to work, as an accident on state highway 55 was dispatched at 08:04. Thanks to the staffing of the Duty Crew, Engine 43-44 was on location in approximately 3 minutes from time of dispatch. After finishing up on the call, members returned to the station and conducted training on driving the apparatus and raising ladders.
We consider this first Duty Crew a big success, and we look forward to staffing more hours of station coverage to provide immediate response for emergencies.
